On y suit Aidan, un fanboy maladroit, et Sierra, une créatrice de contenu en pleine ascension, alors que leur connexion en ligne finit par déborder dans le monde réel — avec des conséquences aussi troublantes qu’imprévisibles. Entre drame initiatique, horreur corporelle et satire, Transformers: Terminal propose un regard neuf et percutant sur la manière dont les fandoms façonnent nos identités et nos liens à l’ère numérique. L'histoire qui s'ouvre sur une romance virtuelle pleine de promesses dérape vite en cauchemar surréaliste, mêlant nostalgie, propriété intellectuelle et fétichisme consumériste.
Avec Natasha Mercado (The Joe Schmo Show, Adult Swim), Russell Sorbello et une bande originale de Joe DeGeorge (Harry and the Potters, Downtown Boys), le film a été comparé aux œuvres d’Eugene Kotlyarenko et Jane Schoenbrun, teinté de l’humour noir de Todd Solondz.
Premier long-métrage inclassable du réalisateur Miles Engel-Hawbecker, produit par Theresa Tomi Faison, Transformers: Terminal est à la fois une lettre d’amour et une mise en garde pour quiconque s’est déjà perdu dans l’univers des fandoms.
